چکیده

A distance-hereditary graph is a connected graph in which every induced path is isometric, i.e., the distance of any two vertices in an induced path equals their distance in the graph. We present a linear time labeling algorithm for the minimum cardinality connected r-dominating set and Steiner tree problems on distance-hereditary graphs. q 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Weighted Connected Domination and Steiner Trees in Distance-Hereditary Graphs

Distance-hereditary graphs are graphs in which every two vertices have the same distance in every connected induced subgraph containing them. This paper studies distance-hereditary graphs from an algorithmic viewpoint. In particular, we present linear-time algorithms for finding a minimum weighted connected dominating set and a minimum vertex-weighted Steiner tree in a distance-hereditary graph...

HT-graphs: centers, connected r-domination and Steiner trees

HT-graphs have been introduced in [11] and investigated with respect to location problems on graphs. In this paper two new characterizations of these graphs are given and then it is shown that the central vertex, connected r-domination and Steiner trees problems are linear or almost linear time solvable in HT-graphs.

Domination problems on trees and their homogeneous extensions

A graph is a homogeneous extension of a tree iff the reduction of all homogeneous sets (sometimes called modules) to single vertices gives a tree. We show that these graphs can be recognized in linear sequential and polylogarithmic parallel time using modular decomposition. As an application of some results on homogeneous sets we present a linear time algorithm computing the vertex sets of the ...

Graph Classes between Parity and Distance-Hereditary Graphs

Several graph problems (e.g., steiner tree, connected domination, hamiltonian path, and isomorphism problem), which can be solved in polynomial time for distance-hereditary graphs, are NP-complete or open for parity graphs. Moreover, the metric characterizations of these two graph classes suggest an excessive gap between them. We introduce a family of classes forming an infinite lattice with re...

Nordhaus-Gaddum type results for the Harary index of graphs

The emph{Harary index} $H(G)$ of a connected graph $G$ is defined as $H(G)=sum_{u,vin V(G)}frac{1}{d_G(u,v)}$ where $d_G(u,v)$ is the distance between vertices $u$ and $v$ of $G$. The Steiner distance in a graph, introduced by Chartrand et al. in 1989, is a natural generalization of the concept of classical graph distance. For a connected graph $G$ of order at least $2$ ...
